My struggle
Is my own
Not one
In which
I wish to explain
To stand before me
Is to be in the presence
Of the broken
My mind is strong
Yet my will gets weakened
I cannot ask
Much
Of anyone
For I know
It only drives them away
I have been punished
Burdened
Beaten
But not blind
I fight
And I’ll win
As long as my heartbeat

Disillusioned?

And so it seems
My body may shake me
But I choose to ignore
That which
I cannot control
And I live

My constant battle

Unexpected
Rare
And Underneath
I cannot fight
That which is
Undeniable

Are
Something I want
To know

To get lost with
And find more of me
Beneath you

Your body
And soul
I want to unwind
Inside you

You wore the sweater that I bought
I remember walking past the window
Thinking to myself
“That is so very much him”
My apprehension
Made me believe
Maybe today
Wasn’t the right time
I pulled in to the parking spot
Checked my rear view mirror
Happy to find my face
Was I ready to face you
My heartbeat
Steady
I stood tall
Wrapped my arms around you
And let life do as it does
We talked
We laughed
I did my best
To stay in the present
To be caught up in your presence
And take as much of you in
As I always have
I will always wonder
And never forget
My heart will always be

Aren’t we the wondrous ones
While we seek

We deny

On all that is

Can be
So much more
And yet
The unknown
We run from
The unknown
We shy away
When life’s true beauty
Is all that
That is
That which is unknown
The smiles
We will never ignite
The thirst
We shall never quench
The curiosities
Left
Undiscovered
I will wonder

A question mark
In my soul
What could have been
