The Main Course

Love lingers on my lips
But I swallow hard
And let the remains
Burn my insides
With it’s acid appeal
Your reminder
Is the only thing left
Feeding me
I’m left hungry for your affection
But you leave me starving
I choke back reality
Trying to wash it down
With this glass half full perspective
I’ve tasted the sweetness of your kiss
My appetite: temporarily suppressed
I seek the sustenance only you provide
But I survive
Living on my own secret recipe:
One part Patience
Two parts Thyme
